I am researching my family tree. My real father was Alpha E. Brazle.
He was born in Loyal, Oklahoma, in 1906,and was a professional baseball
player with the St.Louis Cardinals, from the middle 40's to the mid 50's.
I don't know very much about him, as he and my mother were divorced when
I was a small child. I would like to find any family that might still be
alive, and would like to know about his family tree also. I would appreciate
any information that anyone might have. Thank you so much for your time.

I have an inquiry about my grandfathers father,Jim Bracewell. I have
no information except that his wife was Connie Brogdon or Bragdon and that
they lived in North Carolina in the early 1900's. The High Point area is
what I have been told. |

My family originated in Offaly Co Ireland. John Brazel came from there
to Quebec Canada in 1823. He came with possibly 4 other Brazel's, William
his brother, Margaret his sister, and 2 others unknown to me. I would like
to find any connections to family still remaining in Ireland. I have considerable
info on Brazel's in Quebec and western states, but would like to fill in
the gaps. |

Francis Lowthorp Jr. Married Delaney Braswell in Johnston County NC.
in 1803. If all my connections are correct, Francis & Delaney were
my ggggrandparents. Three generations later in Union County, James Baker
married Elizbeth Braswell and his brother Henry married Molly Braswell.
Don't know if they were sisters, but suspect so. James and Henry were the
children of my ggrandfather William Baker's brother Hampton Baker. William
was married to Sarah Minerva Lowthorp in 1863. Sarah would have been Delaney
Braswell Lowthorp's granddaughter. If any of this seems "correct" or rings
a bell, I'd appreciate your feedback. Regards, Doug Baker |

a sister who died at an early age from rheumatic fever; her name was Joanne.
This is all I know of my father's family. Unfortunately I never met my
father until I was 26 and haven't seen or spoken to him since I was about
27 - I am now 48. Would like to be able to trace my heritage. |

Hello, I am originally from Talladega, Al. All of my dads family are
from around Kilmichal, Mississippi. We are decendants of George Braswell.
One of my great uncles(Hildon Braswell) after 20 years of research published
a book about our family tree of The Braswell's dating back to the 1600's
when we first began to settle in this country. I can hardly wait to go
back to review this book to see if we connect to anyone in this list. Great

You have done a great job on your web page! There is an Evans connection
with the Braswell Family - maybe the latter part of the 1700' s in the
North Carolina/South Carolina area. I believe they moved to Texas. I'll
see if I can find it. I received a book today - "The Braswell Family" by
Irene Braswell Kiker and William Wayne Braswell. I haven't had a chance
to read it. |

My husband is the son of Mary Francis Brasuell Nolte. Mary Francis
was the daughter Alfred Lafayette Brasuell and Dora Lollabelle Goff Brasuell.
Dora was reared as the step daughter of Robert B. Brasuell in Lamar County,
Texas. She married A.L. Brasuell in Lamar County, TX, in 1902. A.L. was
the son of Samuel Benjamin Brasuwell and Mary Francis Brasuwell. Samuel
and A.L. were each grocers in Texarkana. Prior to Texarkana, Samuel lived
for many years around Little Rock, and Fort Smith, AR. I would be interested
in any information on the Brasuell (or other spellings) that might connect
with our family. I have lots of information back to early 1600's which
I would share. I believe that this family is connected to Obedience Snow
Brasuell and decends from her line. |

Like many of you, I'm having a difficult time with some family history.
I was born April 1, 1955 in Statesboro, Georgia, the son of Jasper "JACK"
Braswell and Edna Mae Allmond Braswell. Jack Braswell was a building contractor
in Statesboro, Georgia, until he and his second wife (Eunice Collins) retired
to Lynn Haven, Florida (near Panama City) in 1977. Jack was born in rural
Bulloch County, Georgia, on June 30, 1912 (he'sliving today in Hawkinsville,
Georgia), the youngest son of Joe P. Braswell and Catherine Miller Braswell.
Catherine died in September, 1912, after accidently spilling potash in
her eyes, while she was pregnant with Jack. Jack Braswell's "full" siblings
were Susie (Nelson), born 1906 - died 1959(?) in Jacksonville, Florida,
Early, born 1907 - died 1986(?) in Savannah, Georgia, Vadna (Powell), born
1908 - died 1982 in Statesboro, Georgia, and Penton, born 1910 - died 1994
in Savannah, Georgia. In 1917, Joe Braswell re-married Gertrude (?), who
bore him two sons, Ira, born 1918 - died 1976(?) in Birmingham, Alabama,
and John Watson, born 1920 - died 1982 in Jacksonville, Florida. Joe Braswell
was born in 1879, and was the son of Richard Braswell. Joe Braswell's siblings
were brothers Jim (James?), John, and Watson (who lived in N. Augusta,
S.C.), and sisters Maggie (Margaret?), who married a fellow named Ivey,
who was a preacher (who lived in Dearing, Georgia near the end of his life),
and Alice, whom we think married a fellow named Brown, and lived (we think)
in Statesboro, at some point. Sometime around the turn of the century,
Richard Braswell owned/operated a blacksmith shop in Wrens (Jefferson County)
Georgia. Later, but before 1910, Richard Braswell moved to Statesboro,
and operated a grocery store. Apparently his first(?) wife either died,
or he was divorced from her, as he married a (widow?) woman from Statesboro.
We don't know her name. I'm not sure when he died, but it was probably
before 1920. He is buried in Eastside Cemetary in Statesboro, but there
is no marker. Eastside is a city-owned cemetary, and I have verified with
the city manager that Richard Braswell is buried in the location we'd been
told. I've been told that Richard Braswell came to this country from Ireland...that
he even talked "funny". I'm not sure about this, because I've also heard
that Richard Braswell had a falling out with his father, moved away from
where his father lived, and changed (slightly) the spelling of his name,
which was alledgedly "Brassel". I'M TRYING TO FIND OUT MORE ABOUT RICHARD
BRASWELL, AND HIS FAMILY TIES. I'm at braswell@broadcast.net |

Working on my Boyd family line. Alexander Boyd was born in 1821 in
Halifax Co, Virginia. Married in Ohio in 1847. Do not know if your Boyds
tie in. There were several big Boyd families in Halifax (the Boyd-Swepson
line; and separate, the George Boyd line thru the sons John, Patrick, James,
and Robert who moved there from Pennsylvania)and possibly other minor Boyd
lines. Trying to connect to one of these clans. Alexander may have broken
with his family since he enrolled in Union army and may have married a
Quaker, Martha Appleton in 1847..Could Civil War have caused them to lose
track of family members? Alexander named his eldest son George... |

What an interesting clan we have! I'm new to this but thanks to a great-uncle
I have a "family book" that documents the "NW Arkansas Braswells" - although
I've yet to verify the sources most seem to agree w/what's here to some
degree. To save room I'll simplify: Jerrie Lu (Vaughan)Everett - me! Jerry
Dean Vaughan Christi Ardella (Braswell)Vaughan- turning 100 this year how
about that Braswell longevity?! James Thomas & Elizabeth (Hubbs) Braswell
Andrew Jackson & Louisa Frances(Youngblood)Braswell Simeon & Mary
A."Polly"(Tabor) Braswell William J. & Elizabeth F.(Medford) Braswell
(1st wife ukn) (William J. is the guy that brought us to NWArk) Richard
& Obedience (Snow) Braswell At this point I'm having a hard time trying
to make out my g-uncles' notes as to the Robert - Richard Bracewell connection,
then the English history is again legible. I have that Robert came over
w/sister Rebecca and that he later married a Rebecca? He lists their children
but which one was Richard (1729)"s parents? Is it the Richard (1651-1734)
married to Sarah (Jan 16, 1673)? My g-uncle visited Bracewell, England
during his reseach and has several photographs that I'm currently trying
to locate from various family. We have also recently discovered an audio

My mother's maiden name is Brazil. Her father was Lawerence (Pat) Brazil

My name is David Nix. My maternal grandma's family is from Nash County,
NC. Her great-grandmother was Elizabeth Braswell, who married Elbert C.
Lewis. Elizabeth is for certain, based on will information and census information,
the daughter of William Braswell, born circa 1805, in Nash County, NC.
William's wife was "Milly" or "Margaret". I am not certain how to tie this
William into the rest of the Braswell family and would be interested in
feedback from a knowledgeable Braswell researcher. |

I am researching my Simmons and Elfers/Elphers relatives who lived
in Butler County, Missouri. My great-great grandmother, Amanda Simmons,
was born c. 1869 in Missouri. Her parents were Warren Simmons (b.c. 1846-1848
in Kentucky) and Adaline Elfers or Elphers (b.c. 1849 in Missouri). I believe
Warren to be the son of Porter (b.c. 1821) and Matilda (b.c. 1824) Simmons.
Porter is from Ohio County, Kentucky. Porter, along with Warren and Cephas
Simmons, all moved from Ohio County, Kentucky to Butler County, Missouri
between 1850-1870. I welcome all information about the Simmons and Elphers/
Elfers families and am willing to share any and all information I have.
Warren Simmons and his family moved to Stone County, Arkansas sometime
between 1880 and 1900. |

Hello, and thanks to all of you cousins in the Braswell family who
have e-mailed me. My ancestor in the Braswell family is a Richard Braswell
(1750, N. Carolina) who married a Diannah (1750 - I have no last name.)
They had a son, John, (Oct 1769, Greenville SC) who married a Rebecca Pruitt
(oct 1770, Greenville, SC). Their daughter, Diana/Diannah, married Richard
Smith (b. 19 Sept 1792, Sullivan C., Tennessee,) on 11 Dec 1817 in TN.
The Richard Smith family moved to Utah. One of their sons, Ephraim (b.
15 Sept 1833) is my maternal grandmother's paternal grandfather. He married
Nancy Elizabeth Bethers (Bethards family, b. 3 Aug 1837, Quincy, Adams,
Ill.) Their son is my great grandfather, James Andrew Smith (b. 17 March
1866, Heber, Wasatch, Utah.) He married a Lucy Anna Sellars from Tuscaloosa,
Alabama, and they moved to Idaho. I have no death dates on John Braswell
or Rebecca Pruitt. Your site is one of the most well-organized there is,
and everyone who has e-mailed me has been so friendly and nice! Thanks!

have any data on this matter?? It's a fun issue as being a Braswell won't

you have proof of this Sarah Braswell's lineage. Lib Jones |

It's actually my husband's family. We are descended from Rev. Robert
Bracewell. The one question I have concerns the parentage of Richard Brazil,
born in 1758 in North Carolina and died in 1842 in Arkansas. His son Richard
born abt 1792 in South Carolina adn died in Arkansas is our direct link
and I think his father is also a Richard Braswellb between 1725-30 in NC
and died after 1798 in SC but I'm not sure. |

My branch of the Braswell family came from either Longtown or Logtown,
Panola, County Mississippi, settling in NE Texas(Bowie County) in the earlt
1890s. There were three of them, Samuel Monroe=Mark P and a sister Allie
Braswell Blackburn, there was a half brother Jeffwho was in Sherden, Ark.,
the last contact being in about 1924. There was another brother that did
not come to Texas, his name was John and I believe he was a preacher, he
died and his wife Mary, later came to Texas with children Zula, Charles,
John, and Mark. She married Mark P whose first wife had died and he had
one son by his first wife named M>P (Price). Mark P and Maryhad 3 children,
Harold-Lois and Lillian. Hope some one will see this and know more about
this Branch of the Braswell"s. Thank you Kindred P Braswell EMail kpnorabraswell@webtv.net |

Very impressive compilation. Intertested in seeing on-line photos of
Bracewell, England or any of the early ancestors. Does anyone know the
name of the ship in which the Rev. Robert Bracewell made his voyage to
America? I have a brief paper by a family historian detailing the probable
reason Rev. Bracewell originally left England if anyone is interested.
Also, some other interesting stuff, but it is not in an on-line form yet.
Does anyone know the Bracewell tie to the Bacon's Rebellion in the late
1600's? |
