My sister reignited the spark for the genealogy which has lain dormant
for these past 5 years, and I was excited to see so much progress on the
names we have in common PENDERGRASS/QUALLS. Great sites online. Diana |

Hello, I am trying to researh my family tree on my surname. Hopefully
this connection will help me. My 3-great grandfather is Elais Braseal,
he lived in Blount Co. AL. I know that he moved from TN to AL before 1830
because he was in the 1830 census of Blount Co. AL. I know that he moved
with relatives because there are more Braseals listed. It shows a Williamson
Braseal, I have been told that this is Elias's brother. Then, in the 1840
Blount Co. census, it lists 4 Braseal households. The head of the families
are William Braseale SR. 80-90 yrs, Elais Braseale 40-50 yrs, William Braseale
30-40 yrs, W.H. Braseale 30-40 yrs, and J.W Braseale 20-30 yrs. I also
have been told that William SR. is Elais and Williamson's father. I have
read some of the archieves concerning the Braswell/Braseal family moving
to Blount Co. Al. Hopefully there are some of Braswell researchers can
help me. It has been a long and hard journey in finding my connection because
of the various spelling of Braseal/Braseale/Brazell/Braswell. I really
had to dig. Elais's wife is Pherby(unk maiden). Their children are Kinchean
born in TN, John and Elais both were born in AL. The family stayed in Blount
Co for years. Hopefully, I can past Elias and William SR.. Thanks Tony.. |

Several years ago my great uncle, Lewis Brasell, Mobile, Al got me
interested in our family tree. After years of research, he was able to
trace the lineage through several hundred years and many changes of spelling
due to illiteracy, census mistakes, etc. and countries of origin, particularly
heavy family line in France as well as Scotland. Just leave out a "W" and
you have Brasell. That'ts me. Enjoyed the site! |

It has been a while since I sent out plea for anyone who might have
info on Jesse R. Braswell born in Upson co., Ga---his father born in North
Carolina and his mother born in Georgia---he raised his family in southeastern
Alabama---it is possible that his name was spelled Brazell, but it is spelled
Braswell now, he did not know how to write and so when he signed anything,
it was indicated by his x---with a someone elses signture of his name---spelled
that way---but if there is anyon out there who might have some connection
to my ggggranddad would love to hear from you---I believe he came to Eufaula,
Al with his brother? Benjamin, because they both enlisted into the CSA
in Eufaula, and on the roster his last name was spelled Brazzell---I have
some reports listed on the webpage listed with this message--take a look
at the info listed there |

We are looking for Brazzell's they have also been spelled Braswell
back in the 1850's. The husband's name and wife's name and children and
dates of birth all match. Just the spelling on the last name seem to vary,
from census to census. We have got as far back as George and Mary(Walker)
Braswell . George born in 1783 and Mary born in 1790. Children Wilson 1825
John 1830 Richard ? Jackson ? Rebecca? Pricilla 1821 Really don't know
if there was another son named George. We know that most decendents live
in Tn. now. But think they either started if Ga or NC. any help or information
sure would be a help. Also an Obedience Snow keeps popping up. Thank you

Here's one to go with the next... I have crisscross alike sounding
names generations apart. I can catch 2 birds with this one web site ...
where else but in America... Thanks Keith! on my dad's side Willie Lee
SPRADLIN, son of Asa Lambert SPRADLIN and Mary Elizabeth BRASWELL. There
is a marriage between Elizabeth SPRADLIN (b.1809 Georgia) and Allen BRAZIL.
They were married May 18, 1828 in Pike County, Georgia. I know of 3 children
William F BRAZIL ( b.1834), Joseph BRAZIL (b.1836) and Hannah M. BRAZIL
(b.1840) all were born in Georgia and according to the 1860 census Elizabeth
and Allen resided in Coweta County, Georgia. I have citatations if anyone

Hi Keith! It's been a long time since I visited your super site. Since
then I have received this information from my dad. My father Willie Lee
SPRADLIN, is the son of Asa Lambert SPRADLIN and Mary Elizabeth BRASWELL
(b june 9, 1906 / d January 22, 1995) of Georgia. Mary was also known to
many as Mae. Her father was James William BRASWELL (b. unknown /d. January
12, 1956) and was married to Jennie PRINCE (b. unknown / d. January 24,
1955). Mary had 6 siblings: Tommy BRASWELL, Ernest BRASWELL, Olin BRASWELL,
Mattie BRASWELL, Emily BRASWELL ROBERTS, and Ruby BRASWELL DUNCAN. I have
also found in some census records of 1910 that list an Annie. They resided
in Carroll County Georgia in all of the census records I found. If you
or any one has more information on this part of the family line I would
be very interested. I live in the Seattle area and would be willing to
do research or lookups in This neck of the woods. Thanks again for all
of your hard work. Janna |

with a Jacob Brazell who sold beef during the Revolutionary War. He begat

the land that is now Fort Jackson, SC. We were moved out during WW2. Have
many stories to share - lots of humorous ones. Sherry Brazell Shoars |

93711 I am descended from Diana Brawell (born 9 Oct 1797, Greenville,

County, South Carolina). I run into problems with John Braswell's father
and mother, His father is supposedly Richard Braswell, born about 1763
of Greenville County, South Carolina; his mother possibly Obedience Snow.
I am trying to link this 1763 Richard Braswell to a 1723 Richard Bracewell,
who is probably the son of a 1672 Richard Braswell with a wife named Elizabeth
or possibly Eleanor Bryant. The 1672 Richard Braswell is linked back to
father Robert Braswell (born after 1650 ?) with wife Susannah Burgess,
but the 1672 Richard Braswell may have Richard Braswell as father and Sarah
as mother. Both Richard and Robert are supposedly sons of Reverend Robert
Bracewell (born 1612 and wife Rebecca of the Isle of Wight, Virginia. |

Keith: What a great job you have done with your BRASWELL site and thank
you sincerely for providing all of this wonderful help for so many of us.
I am researching the Pulaski Co., IL BRAZELs. Olive BRAZEL, born 12 May
1860 in Lick Creek, Union Co., IL married 23 Sept. 1878 in Union Co., IL
Israel J. SETTLEMOIR. Olive was the only child of George W. BRAZEL by his
first wife, Elizabeth WIGGS who died about 1866. Then George W. BRAZEL
was a son of Jesse BRAZEL whose other two sons were Andrew Jackson and
William Carroll. Other sources tell me Jesse BRAZEL was the son of George
W. BRAZELL who came to Union Co. having been born in Anson Co., NC and
who was a son of Richard BRAZELL and Jemima WHITE. I would like very much
to correspond with someone who has family sheets and references for this
line they are willing to share as I am most confused about how these connections
were arrived at. Thank you for your attention and happy hunting to all. |

married a Joseph Cobb. The Cobb line ties into a Masengale line who ties
into the Webb line. I thought her parents were John Braswell a son of Richard

Bryant family. Is this the same Susannah, and do I have this information
correct? I have enjoyed looking through your Webpages. Thank you Thomas |

My father's name was John Herschel Braswell. The last I knew about
him was that he lived in Alamogordo, New Mexico. I believe he was born
around 1913. I have a half brother who is John Braswell and I he was around
Houston, Texas, the last I knew. I do not know which Braswell branch I
might be related to but would like to know a bit more than I do now! I
believe his family was from Georgia but am not certain. Have just begun
to play with the computer and searches. Any information would be appreciated!

Greetings! I am a descendent of Edmund Bracewell b. abt. 1530 in Grantham,
County Lincoln, London, England. My immigrant ancestor was Rev. Robert
Braswell b. 1611, London and d. 1668 Isle of Wright Co. VA. My first Braswell
ancestor was Charity Braswell, who married Benjamin Williams. She died
in Nash Co., NC in 1836. Some of her descendents eventually ended up in
Louisiana, where I am from. Will share the info I have with others researching
the same line and would love to know more about Edmund Bracewell's ancestors.
Thanks! |

Hi Everyone, I descend from Joseph Strickland (1704-1781), son of Anne
BRASWELL and her husband, Matthew Strickland, Jr. of Isle of Wight, VA.
Does anyone have any information related to Anne's son, Joseph Strickland?
Also, is there any books, etc. showing copies of original records, such
as marriage, land, etc., records related to Anne Braswell and her family
and any copies of her parents, grandparents, etc. If there's no books,
I'd be happy to pay for any copies of orginial records. Your Braswell Cousin

Hi There, What evidence exists that links the surnames Braswell &
Bracewell? My grandfather and most of the rest of his family arrived in
Canada between 1900-1910 from Yorkshire. Most of the Canadian Bracewells
that I have met or am marginally aware of are directly related to that
particular emigration; although I have met a very few that can't be identified
as coming from that group. We (meaning my immediate family) were under
the impression that the Bracewells were rather recent arrivals in the new
world. I think that's excusable considering that much of our info came
from Grandpa and he probably knew nothing of earlier Bracewell migrants;
or didn't care. The one common thread I've encountered with any and all
Bracewells that I've spoken with is the family myth that we are Scottish
expatriates who were essentially sheep thieves who for one reason or another
moved to Yorkshire in order to pursue the family business with less hassle.
On the other hand, my Grandfather believed the family moved to England
during the reign of King David I of Scotland while being involved in general
border raiding. At any rate I will be perusing your site in greater depth
when I have the time. It was a delight to discover it. Your (presumed)
cousin, Bruce |

I have been researching the Brasell (by several spellings, including
Braswell) for years. Am interested in the following: Jacob Brassel (born
about 1780 in N.C.) who married possibly 3 times (ElizabethUNKNOWN, Aritta
Brasil, and possibly Celia Bryan). Jacob and Elizabeth had son Roland (also
Rolen, Rolin; born about 1809 in GA). Roland married Nancy Waller (Walker?).
Had son Roland Franklin "Frank" Brasell (born Feb. 8, 1843 in Alabama);
married Nancy Elizabeth "Bettie" Stephenson (born June 26, 1854 in Pulaski
Cty. Arkansas). Had son John Irvin Brasell, my grandfather. |

Keith, I want to add my 2 cents worth! My grandmother was Jessie Olivia
Braswell Collins. She was born in Alabama (Birmingham, I've been told)
1/4/1880. So the story goes, a man named Thomas Lumas Collins (born in
1842 in Choctaw County, Alabama) met Jessie's family in Alabama when he
was on his way to Texas. He asked Jessie to go with him and she did. They
were married and had 7 children, Albert Sidney, Mayme Lee, Jesse Fred,
Billy Joe, Reba, Flossie and Bernice. Jesse Fred was my dad. I have been
unable to find any trace of Jessie or her Braswell family in Alabama to
date. I would appreciate any help from any of the Braswell family. You
are all such interesting people! I just wish I knew where I fit into the
family. Margaret Sanders |

My grandmother was Ruth Bracewell and she was born in Iowa circa 1895.
Her father was Albert whose mother's maiden name was Starkey. Her brother
Albert Jr. was a fireman in Los Angeles. We know little about our Bracewell
ancestors because Albert Sr. died young and his widow moved west to Colorado
and then Oregon with her two children. She re-married a Mr. McConnell.
I was thrilled to visit in 1986 the village in England named Bracewell.
My grandmother always told me that the Bracewells were fine people. I visited
the village of Bracewell in England in 1986. My e-mail address is carparkin@aol.com. |

understand there may have been 2 other siblings, Joyce and Ray. Do these
names sound familiar to anyone? |
